Getting Ready - Just a Little Over a Month Until Pitch Pull!

For the uninitiated, "pitch pull" is an Army Aviator term referring to the pitch you put in the rotor system as you lift off the ground . . . and we are rapidly approaching lift off!

John here - just dropping a quick note on the Evans Trek to Rhode Island. Even though we are still more than a month away, we are making ready with home preparation, transportation appointments and the "clearing" process that is a necessary (and painful) fact of life for every Soldier/Family that leaves one installation for another.

We have set up our travel itinerary, and we're pretty excited about how much fun we have planned for the summer. Gran and Odie will join us for my promotion ceremony on 12 July, then do us the GREAT favor of driving the kids back to NC so Carolyn and I can pack up the house and clear post.
Carolyn and I plan to leave here on 17 July and head to NC to spend about a week with my family. From there we will head north (and east) to Williamsburg. This stop is out of the way, but we thought it might be fun for the kids to spend a day at Busch Gardens. We'll camp at American Heritage RV Park in Williamsburg for two days. From there we continue north on I-95 to the Philadelphia area where we will spend a couple of days at the West Chester KOA. From West Chester it is north again to Connecticut and Wolf's Den Family Campground in East Haddam. We'll camp there for several days before heading to Jamestown and our new home.

We're already getting excited, and we'll keep everyone up to date as we finalize our preparations. Expect stories from the road as we make our trek!
