Hello friends and family! We are currently out on the road over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. We decided to head south for this trip and are camping in Woodville, Alabama… just East of Huntsville. We are staying at the Parnell Creek RV Park and this is our review of our stay.
Parnell Creek RV Park is a small privately owned RV park with 15, 30 and 50 amp hook-ups as well water and sewer. There are a few tent sites as well, some with power and two that are considered “primitive” with no power. I do find it funny to call tent camping as “primitive” as that is 99% of what camping was for us up until we bought the Montana. In fact sleeping on a air mattress was “selling out” a few years ago… ah, how far we have come!!
Our home for the weekend is site #21, it is a back in site with no shade but no shade=great satellite reception! Not to mention, we haven’t seen the sun so we haven’t needed shade. If it were sunny, it would be pretty hot so keep that in mind. Our site is facing the highway so that is certainly a negative but inside you don’t really hear it. Joining us for this trip are Randy, Sharelle and Craven. Randy and Craven came last night and Sharelle is arriving today. They are in one of the tent sites and, speaking for them, this is an RV park, not a tent park! Their site is # 28. It is a very small tent site but does have a very well maintained pad with great drainage. There is no fire ring for them but our site has one so it hasn’t been an issue. The do have water and electric so Craven has his DVD player and a fan if needed. There is also a small playground which is nice, like a large home back yard playground/swingset. The children really like it and we do too other than the sand!
All of the sites, RV and tent, are very small and we are kind of squished in but truthfully, I don’t mind. I really enjoy how small the park is and don’t mind being so close to our neighbors. I have to mention, RVers are generally very friendly and we have had “princess” and Rick (two of our neighbors, one man and his dog) over a few times already… just to chat.
Our first day here we arrived and got set up just prior to a significant storm that dumped a ton of water on us. After the recent Nashville/Clarksville floods we were a tad concerned when we hear “flash flooding” and we are camping next to a small creek, Parnell creek. The creek didn’t swell but we had our very own river flowing under the rv. Once the storm passed, the girls went out and to go play shortly in the new ponds all around us! They really had fun.
Craven and Randy arrived that night after Addison was in bed but we let Annabelle stay up to wait for her best buddy to show. They played and had a lot of fun until it was time to get Annabelle to bed, two hours past her bedtime!
Like clockwork, the girls woke at 6:30 and we were up and ready to start our day. The weather isn’t really cooperating with us and it is overcast again today with some surrounding storms. I don’t mind because it keeps the air really nice and comfortable but the children are getting wet/muddy and stir crazy. I think we are going to head over to “unclaimed luggage” today and see what goodies we find.. What is “unclaimed luggage?“ you ask? It is where the luggage that is lost/never claimed from airlines goes to… I know, it sounds shady to me too but apparently it is a hot shopping experience. We shall see and I will post what we find!
After 24 hours here I have really happy other than with the weather. It is a bit disappointing but it isn’t anyone’s fault so no need to complain… Will post more tomorrow!
